One of the most important continuing tasks for the Trustees is to ensure that the Green is properly maintained.
The following measures are in place:
A dedicated group of volunteer Wardens patrol the Green on a regular basis, dealing with particular issues as they arise, or passing them on to the Trustees for appropriate action.
The Wardens also keep a close eye on natural developments through the year, such as nesting birds, and the appearance of particular flora and fauna.
The Trustees maintain a management plan, which is reviewed on a regular basis. The plan details maintenance requirements both on a specific and continuing basis.
Cost control is important. As much as possible of the work on the Green is done on a voluntary basis, with expenditure kept to the necessary minimum.
Work parties take place on the first Sunday of each month, from 10.00 am till 12. .00 noon. The work parties undertake identified maintenance tasks such as hedge cutting, clearing brambles, pond maintenance and general repair work.
If you are interested in joining our work parties please contact Richard Mann (01892 852470 – Richard_mann@btinternet.com), or any of the Trustees. Alternatively, just come along on a first Sunday or a second Wednesday to the Station Road entrance to the Green at 10.00 am. Your help will be very welcome!
